Wills

Jacob Bible (1791-1850)

I, JACOB BIBLE,do make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time made.

First, I direct that my funeral expenses and all my debts be paid as soon after my death as possible out of any money that I may be possess of or may first come into the hands of my executor.

Secondly, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, the home (house) and part garden and lots, where I now live, to be hers during her life; also my sons, William, Issac, Andrew and Noah are to pay her Sixty bushels of good corn, delivered to her yearly, during life, for which amount I have their obligation - and if Andrew and Noah continue with their mother, they will have to pay a reasonable sum in additin to the above sums. I also give to my wife, all my household and kitchen furniture, also all my farming utensils I also wish my wife to have the pasture field adjoinging William Bible and Abraham Bible during her life.

Thirdly, I give and bequeath to my son, William, the land on which he lives, containing ninety-two and three quarters acres for which amount he holds my obligations, by him paying his mother sixty bushels of corn yearly. I also give and bequeath to him the land I purchased from John H. G. Bunley and others, by his paying one hundred dollars, 25 December, 1851 and one hundred dollars 25 December 1852, payable to my executor.

Fourthly, I give and bequeath to my son, Isaac, the land on which he lives, containing Eighty-five acres for which amount he holds my obligation, by paying his mother sixty bushels of corn yearly.

Fifthly, I give and bequeath to my son, Noah Bible, the tract of land he is in possession of for which he holds my obligations, by him paying his mother sixty bushels of corn yearly.

Sixthly, I give and bequeath to my son Andrew the tract of land adjoining Noah Bible, containing eight-five and a half acres, for which he has my obligations, by him paying his mother sixty bushels of corn yearly.

Seventhly, I give and bequeath to my son Jacob, eighty-five acres of land, twenty acres to be laid off adjoining Isaac Bible, on the north side of Little Chucky, to be so laid out as to connect said land with my other land with to line of my bottom land to a stake at the old well, and sixty-five acres adjoining Wm. Bible and Abraham Bible, and said twenty from said stake with Andrew's line to a hickory corner, to William Bible, thence to a sourwood, thence to the corner of a fence at the turnip patch, thence with a fence to the barn, thence with a fence to the lane, thence with the lane to a mock corner, thence to be so run to make the above sixty-five acres, not to include my new ground.

Eighthly, I give and bequeath to my son, Isaac Bible, the residue of my bottom land on the south side of Little Chucky, measured to him at thirty-one dollars an acre - One hundred dollars payable, 15th November 1851, one hundred dollars payable 15 Nov. 1852, and the residue 15 Nov 1853, payable to my daughters.

Ninethly, I give and bequeath to my two daughters, Margaret and Susannah, the residue of my land, to be theirs at the death of their mother, and then to be sold for their benefit. I also give to each of the girls a horse and a milk cow. I also give to each of the girls, two hundred-fifty dollars, the amount due from William Bible. I desire to be paid to the girls, and the residue three hundred, to be paid them at the death of their mother, by the sale of personal porperty then on hand, and if not property, to make said three hundred dollars, the amount to be paid equally by my sons to the girls.

Lastly, I do hereby nominate and appoint my two sons, Noah Bible and Andrew Bible, my executors. In witness Whereof, I do on this my last Will and Testament, set my hand and seal, this 25th day of May, 1850.
