Joseph L. (Granny)[sic] BIBLE, of 202 Mill St., Elvins, was born in Madison County September 18, 1878 and passed away at Bonne Terre Hospital on Monday, December 9, 1963, being 85 years, two months and 21 days of age. He was the son of the late Aaron and Mary Bayless Bible.

He was preceded in death seven and one-half years age by his wife Mary Casteel Bible; also by one daughter Mrs. Mary Brown.

Surviving are five children, who are: Nell (Mrs Wm.) Halloway and Mrs. Josie Wishon of Elvins; Jack (Mrs. Arthur "Red") Watts, and Lelia (Mrs. Clifford) Smith of Desloge; James Bible, of Sullivan; also One brother, Jess Bible of Delassus; two sisters, Mrs. James Plummer of Knob Lick and. Mrs. Wm. Sikes of Doe(sic) Run. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.

Masonic services were conducted by Elvins Lodge No. 599 A.F. and A.M. on Tuesday evening at Murphy Sparks Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 2 P.M., at the Elvins Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. John Doolittle. Interment was in St. Francois Memorial Park with Murphy L. Sparks service.
