Sawyer, Creola B. "Babe" Baker, of the Lowland Community, passed away Monday, April 12, 2004.
She was born May 11, 1911 in Greene County and was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Sawyer; parents, Jesse B. and Paralee Bible Baker; brothers, Eugene Frank and Gaines D. Baker; and sisters, Nell Baker and Ruby Baker Holdway. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shelby and Raymond Morris of Cartersville, Ga.; granddaughters, Laura Morris Edwards of Knoxville and Lisa Morris Metcalf of Sharpsburg, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Brenna and Chad Edwards of Knoxville; special nephew, Mike Holdway and wife, Connie, of Morristown; special niece, Margie Baker Sigler of Palm Bay, Fla.; brother-in-law, Lynton Sawyer, Sr. and wife, Oneita; sister-in-law, Clemma Sawyer Wishart, both of Morristown; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Heritage Nursing Home and Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System for their love and care.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 13 at Mayes Mortuary with the Rev. Jim Carter and the Rev. Jim Turner officiating. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 14 in St. Paul Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Sawyer, Lynton Sawyer, Jr., Lloyd V. "Bounce" Bible, Kris Sigler, Tommy Ucciardi III, Gary Gilbert, Eddie Gilbert and Sam Gilbert. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the services at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, 4540 St. Paul Road, Morristown, TN 37813. Arrangements by Mayes Mortuary in Morristown.
