ROY OLAN BIBLE was born June 18, 1929 in Chelsea, Oklahoma, the son of the late Roy Lewis Bible and Vivian Mayme (Henry) Bible. He was raised and received his education in Dumas, Texas.

He was a Veteran of World War II, having served one enlistment in the United States Army.

Roy was united in marriage to Helen L. Lacey on December 24, 1948 in Clayton, New Mexico. They celebrated their 48th Wedding Anniversary this past December. Following their marriage they resided in Amarillo, Texas, where he worked for the Civil Service Amarillo Air Force Base. Roy also worked in Amarillo as a self-employed dry wall contractor in the construction industry. In 1958 they moved to Oregon, in the Forest Grove community, where they have resided since.

Roy had worked for the Forest Grove School District #15 as a custodian from 1960 to 1967. He worked for Diamond Cabinets in Hillsboro for one year, before going to work for Tektronix Corporation in Beaverton. Roy worked for Tektronix from 1967 until 1990 when he retired as a metal finisher.

He was a lifetime member of the Tuality Masonic Lodge #6 in Hillsboro. Roy was also a lifetime member of the Tualatin Chapter #31 in Hillsboro, having served as Past Patron in 1978. Among his special interests he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and he was a jack-of-all-trades.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Linda Kay Smith in 1996.

Roy died Wednesday, March 19, 1997 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Helen L. Bible, of the family home in Verboort; a daughter and son-in-law, Loretta Ann and Arthur Caylor, of Aloha; his brother Sidney J.L. and Marian Bible, of Battle Ground Washington; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and John Scrivner of Gaston; and Julia and Don Koberstein, of Alaska.

Also surviving are six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews
