Died: 05-25-2003 Gene Harold Bible, 69, of the Bible's Chapel community of Midway, died early Sunday morning at his home after an extended illness.
He was retired, after 38 years of service, from American Enka/B.A.S.F. in Lowland. He was a member of Bible's Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years: Nancy Wisecarver Bible; one son and daughter-in-law: Richard "Rick" and Jamie Bible of Midway; two daughters and one son-in-law: Judy and Donnie Bible of Midway, and Janet "Jan" Bible of Afton; four grandchildren: Wallene Compton, Jill Bible, Julie Bible, and Jesse Bible; four sisters and one brother-in-law: Grace McNew of Mosheim, Irene Jackson of Roseboro, N.C., Geneva Kirk Crosby of Midway, and Patsy and Curtis McLamb of Dunn, N.C.; one brother and two sisters-in-law: Ray Jirrell and Deloris Bible and Shirley Bible, all of Morristown; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Terry and Bobbie Wisecarver of Midway, and Mrs. Jerry (Norma) Wisecarver of Morristown; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Jesse and Dora Rader Bible; and one brother: Lee Roy Bible.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 o'clock this evening at Rose Hill Funeral Home and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Bible's Chapel Baptist Church.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 8 o'clock at the church on Tuesday evening.
The Rev. Donnie Bible and the Rev. Phil Crittenden will officiate.
Family and friends are asked to meet at Bible's Chapel Cemetery at 11 a. m. Wednesday for the committal service.
Active pallbearers will be A. J. Smith, Darwin Lamb, Claude McLean, Freddy Malone, Hoover Stroud, David Malone, Kenny Glasscock, and Ronnie Bible.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Adult Men's Sunday School Class of Bible's Chapel Baptist Church: Joel Bible, Bobby Carter, Mack Bible, Claude Cansler, Denton Key, Ray Wilson, and J. C. Ragon; Dr. A. K. Sen and staff, Dr. Thomas Beckner, and Kim Dunbar and Brenda Cleusman from Adventa Hospice.
