ROGERSVILLE — Maxie L. Watterson, 91, formerly of Rogersville, died Wednesday (March 14, 2001) at Life Care Center, Greeneville after an extended illness.

She was a member of Rogersville First Baptist Church. She was born in Thula, Greene County and taught for over 40 years in the Hawkins County School System and Rogersville City School System.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, J. Hubert Shortt and Ed Watterson; parents, Enoch and Bess Solomon Bible; brothers, Val O. "Rass" Bible and J. T. Bible; sisters-in-law, Katella B. Bible and Inez B. Bible.

Surviving are her sister, Lorraine Ailshie and husband, Robert of Tusculum; brother, Enoch Murray "Tom" Bible Jr., Fort Wayne, Ind.; nephews, Donahue Bible, Mohawk, Jim Bible, Fairfield Glade and Steve Ailshie, Georgia; nieces, Nancy B. Grugg, Bulls Gap and Cheryl Eggelston, Indiana; stepdaughter, Margaret Watterson Walker, Richmond, Va.; stepgrandson, Roy Walker Jr., Richmond, Va.; step granddaughters, Jerrie Lohr, Richmond, Va., and Kathy Ranson, Dywyn, Va.; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Charles C. Hobbs and the Rev. John Arnott officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery on McDonald Road, near Mohawk, Tenn.
