Robert Louis "Grampy" Bible

Robert Louis "Grampy" Bible, 93, of North Platte died Sept. 30, 2000, at Linden Manor in North Platte.

He was born Jan. 3, 1907, to James Edward and Helen Barrows Bible in Cambridge, where he attended school.

On Jan. 7, 1936, he married Lillian Ferne Stahle in Cambridge. He worked for the Burlington Railroad for many years and later worked for an extermination company in Wichita, Kan. After he retired, he provided lawn care to the community. In 1993, he moved to North Platte to be near family. In 1996, he became a resident of Linden Manor.

Mr. Bible was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge. He had a life long interest in art and began painting in his later years. He also enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie S. Pawelczak of Chelmsford, Mass.; two sons, Kenneth R. (Connie Jo) of North Platte and Jon R. (Janis) of Lincoln; a sister, Ruth Yerton of Hoopa, Calif.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Dec. 18, 1989; an infant daughter, Nancy; his parents; a brother, Vern; and a grandson, Robert E.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Cambridge with the Rev. Dana Keener officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery.

Lockenour-Jones Mortuary of Cambridge is in charge.
