Greetings! The time since the last issue of this newsletter has been very productive. We have made contact with many more Bible family members, both on and off the Internet. We've been receiving more documentation on some of the data we have, and newly-found researchers have generously shared the fruits of their labor. Our Bible Family database is growing by leaps and bounds. We have also begun to hear from people researching the BIEBEL spelling. We aren't sure yet what their history is, but we look forward to pursuing this area. We want to thank all the regular mail subscribers who found this effort of ours to be worth $5 a year. Your assistance will help us to improve and enlarge this publication, and thereby provide more information to you. We are slowly gathering old photos and would like to be able to include some in the newsletter, as well as to display them on our web page on the Internet. If you have a photograph of your ancestor that you would like to have included in our "Photo Album" that is on the internet, please contact Bridgett or Terri to get instructions on how to submit them. We have a couple of regular mail subscribers who have indicated that they would appreciate larger print. If anyone has this need, please let us know and we'll see what we can do. This will, unfortunately, be the last copy sent to those who have not sent in the subscription amount for regular mail delivery. Much as we'd love to continue sharing, for free; practicality makes that impossible. |

Gary Gill Bible Adam, Jr. =>Philip? =>Joseph H. Bible => George Hervey Bible => Orland John Bible => Gary Gill Gary's wife, Tamia, says Joseph's obituary lists Philip as his father. She's not sure which Philip this would be. Other people have Jacob, son of Adam Jr., as this Joseph's father; and Elizabeth Ritchie as his mother. Any clarification would be welcome.

In the last issue of the newsletter I (Terri) wrote: "Another fiction appears to be the existence of a gravestone with the dates of Eve Bible. So far, no one now living has seen this mythical dated stone." I now know that Mr. Charles Russell of Box Springs, GA has seen this stone. His cousin has also seen it. It is a small, rough rock, not a tombstone as we now would see one. On this rock are carved the words "Eve Bible 1828". It is located on old Bible family land near more typical markers. Mr. Russell states that there is no way to tell if this stone is actually a grave marker, if anyone is buried there, or which Eve Bible it may have been. However, he believes, as do we, that it is unlikely this stone marks the burial place of the wife of Hans Adam, Sr.
The following family story was written by Jim Bible of Islamorada, FL. Jim is a descendant of George Washington Bible, son of John and Rebecca [Coffelt] Bible. |
3rd Child of George W. Bible and Martha E. "Mattie" Raulston His birthplace is given as Brownwood, Brown Co., TX, located about 105 miles southwest of Ft. Worth on Hwy. 377. Just 13 miles before Brownwood is the little town of Blanket and this is where he was actually born. There may have been a Blanket, TX before 1887, but not according to Granddad or TX history. Grandad's parents were married in Sweetens Cove, TN by Justice of the Peace, Leroy J. Beene (Later known as Judge Roy Bean). Justice Been was Mattie Raulston Bible's grandfather. He later moved to Langtry TX, about 200 miles southwest of Blanket. George and Mattie went there in 1887, presumably to visit, even though Mattie was pregnant. Granddad said that his dad and mom were in a hurry to get back to Battle Creek, or at least to the hospital in Ft. Worth, before he was born. They were just up the road 13 miles from Brownwood when Mattie went into labor. They stopped and spread a blanket on the ground and grandad was born there. Oh yes, off the same road on the way to Blanket is another small town named "Early"! According to TX history, both these towns started up around 1887! For most of his life, George Raulston Bible would just as well have you believe he was born in Stevenson, Alabama. I (Jim) don't believe he ever told the story about Blanket, TX until about 1967, when he was 80

My father's name was Pearl Judson Bible born in
Bushnel, NE to Thomas and Grace Bible. He also
had a younger sister who died when she was 2 yrs
old. My Grandfather died when my father was 18,
which would have been in 1936. That is why it has
been difficult for us to get very far with this. We do
not know any names prior to Thomas. Does anyone
recognize these names?

Would any one have any information on a Viola

my great-great grandfather on my father's side.
Actually, I am trying to find out the nationalities of
Josiah and Caroline Walker. I have the marriage
license for them, but it only confirms their marriage
date of 21 June 1860. Josiah had a daughter, Ida
