Kilbrandon & Kilchattan Parish
Argyll, Scotland

On the following pages you will find the census for the above parish. I have tried my best to transcribe exactly as it was written, and hopefully have done a good job. Some of the place names were difficult and I often wondered on several of the surnames if it was actually correct for the given family.

You will find the listings in the order in which they appear on the census, however, separated by the village or place name. For 1841 only, there will be, in bold, the letters "HH" by some of the names. The "HH" means this person is "Head of Household" as designated by the enumerator. For 1851, it has been taken from an index and does not have any household designations. You will just have to “wing it” in deciding what is a family or household group. But you can get a fairly accurate household measurement based on the age of the residents. The 1861 and 1871 had the household designation contained in the census sheets.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any comments and/or corrections.
